Access to Bikes Project

CycleStation secures funding to give Access to Bikes for Young People!

Our Access to Bikes for Young People project is administered by Cycling Scotland and aims to increase affordable access to bikes for children and young people, supporting independent travel, reducing inequalities, and improving health.

The funding is provided by Transport Scotland and has secured us enough funding to provide 176 bikes.

The project encourages a circular economy approach by providing both new and reused bikes which will be distributed through our referral partners made up of local schools and locally elected members. The bikes will be taken back in before being refurbished and redistributed year on year as part of our planned legacy for this project.

Our inclusive approach means that those who cannot cycle will also be given access to cycle lessons by the Cycle Station outreach team and  will be supported on safety, basic maintenance and looking after the bikes.

The project is currently in its early stages of consultation (Sep 23) with referral partners and will be fully rolled out before Summer 2024.

We can only accept referrals through our partners, more information can be requested from accesstobikes@cyclestation.org.uk
