We were excited to be asked by DART (Darvel Area Regeneration Team) to be involved with the organisation and shaping up of the first ever Darvel cycling festival weekend (Sat 17th and Sun 18th June). Thanks to some funding from the UCI world Championships, Darvelo 23 was developed by a steering committee with our Derek and Alan, members of DART and Loudoun Road Club as a special community based warm up event to the 2023 UCI World Cycling Championships.
The event would focus on all things cycling with support from Loudoun Road Club, Sustrans, Home Energy Scotland, East Ayrshire Leisure and Cycle Ayrshire. In addition there was a great variety of entertainment from food and drink options to face painting, balloon crafting, spin classes, all ability bikes, live music and Jim the Piper.
Cycle Station had nine staff on hand to help run the event over both days and successfully operated Dr Bike, Ebike Trials, Family Quad Cycle, Family Bike Ride to Galston and back, Marshalling part of the Loudoun Road Club open ride, new and used parts shop and our classic bike show.
We are already looking forward to Darvelo 24′
